How do we compare?

Zedu versus In-house Training Programs

In an ideal world, we’d have sufficient time, headspace and appropriate support to learn on the job. This is rarely the case.

Inevitably the pressures of the clinical load can overwhelm even the best of intentions when it comes to training. Distractions abound. There is never enough time planned (even before interruptions) and often the person with the best skills is not rostered when you are. Sometimes the most skilled users are expected to teach but are not skilled in teaching or supported appropriately in their role.

And.. you may get to perform a scan today and not see that presentation again for weeks. This lack of repetitive practice means that skills take much longer to develop.

At Zedu, the learning is focused on you. You get time and headspace to dedicate to developing your ultrasound skills. Our passionate sonographer educators have honed their subject matter expertise and teaching skills over years of practice. This means you’ll learn properly first time.

Because we teach ultrasound every day, we’re good at it. We break down the learning into easily digestible chunks and sequence it just right. Our educators know the tips and tricks to get you up to speed quicker.

Zedu courses, and our personalised coaching, allow repetitive practice with real time guidance to accelerate your learning.

Zedu Ultrasound Training - courses in Australia

Zedu versus Online

There are many free and subscription based online courses available. (check out here for some free ones) They can vary greatly in quality. The good ones are great at providing information about how and when to use ultrasound. They provide good pattern recognition skills for differentiating normal and abnormal so that you get a good baseline knowledge of the utility of ultrasound in clinical practice.

But…. Learning ultrasound online alone is like learning how to drive a car sitting in the passenger seat. You may know the rules of the road and understand the concepts, but you only learn how to brake and corner safely in the driver’s seat.

At Zedu, a minimum of 2/3 of course time is spent in hands-on practical sessions using real patient models with expert instruction and guidance.

Zedu versus Other Live Courses

There are many providers of ultrasound courses.

Not all course providers can boast access to a wide range of commonly available systems.

At Zedu, we have established relationships with many of the equipment manufacturers and have a variety of cutting-edge ultrasound systems for you to use.

Not all course providers can provide a structured pathway to competence or deliver clinically relevant and expert tuition.

At Zedu, We’re not here to make you a sonographer.

At Zedu our mission is to develop your skills so that you can use and integrate ultrasound into clinical practice safely and effectively for your patients. Our reputation for providing clinically focused and relevant courses that are fun grows by the day. Look here for what some of our learners had to say about us.

Zedu versus Simulators

Simulators are a great way to get started on your ultrasound learning journey. They let you develop hand-eye co-ordination and a 3D understanding of the anatomical relationships. We use them ourselves.

However, they do have their limitations. Part of their strength is also their weakness. The complete reproducibility of every scan gives great opportunity for repetitive practice but doesn’t prepare you for the natural and dynamic variation of real people. Simulators won’t prepare you for how to troubleshoot when you can’t get the ideal window. Have you ever tried asking a simulator to roll on their side?

At some point you have learn how to adapt your scanning technique to accommodate for living, breathing variable anatomy. This is the secret to true clinical integration.

Zedu ultrasound training solutions provide real live standardised patient models selected to be representative of your clinical reality. They come in all ages, shapes and sizes. You’ll gain practical troubleshooting skills that will allow you to overcome real-world imaging challenges.

Our focus is to make you capable of getting the images on normal people so that when you see abnormal you know it.
